The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, and his Deputy, Benjamin Kalu, have called on Muslims across Nigeria to emulate the exemplary life and virtues of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as they celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlud.
In separate goodwill messages to the Muslim community, the leaders urged Nigerians to embrace the Prophet’s teachings of peace, humility, discipline, and service to humanity.
Speaker Abbas noted that despite Nigeria’s socioeconomic challenges, the nation has the potential to prosper if both leaders and citizens abide by the principles of justice, love, and charity espoused by the Prophet. He also called on Muslims to continue praying for the country and to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, as well as other leaders at different levels.
Deputy Speaker Kalu, in his message, encouraged Muslims to practice humility, justice, fairness, and compassion, stressing that the best way to honour Prophet Muhammad is to live by his shining examples.
Both presiding officers of the Green Chamber wished Muslims a blessed and peaceful Eid-el-Mawlud celebration.
He said, “I encourage Nigerians of all faiths to use the celebration to pray for peace, security, and stability in the country, while supporting the government’s efforts to strengthen national unity and foster development. The best way to celebrate Prophet Muhammad is to follow his good examples.
“I call on all Nigerians to join the government in ongoing efforts to eradicate insecurity and corruption and to show love and understanding for one another.”
