Three persons, a man and two women, have been ambushed and killed by gunmen at the bridge between Gassa and Nding, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack took place at about 7:30pm on the 16th of January 2026.
In a statement, the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) national publicity secretary, Rwang Tengwong, said, “It is with deep concern that the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) under the leadership of Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri reports a fresh and deadly attack by a group of terrorist individuals on innocent civilians in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, where three persons—one man and two women—were ambushed and killed while a not less than 1 year-old baby was injured this evening at about 7:30pm at the bridge between Gassa and Nding.”
The statement said the unsuspecting commuters were returning to fan District when they were ambushed
The statement confirmed, “Report has it that, earlier in the day, at about 3:30pm, Rabuk village of Nding also came under attack at mining a site that has over hundreds of inhabitants. Luckily, due to the alertness of the residents, no life was lost. Disturbingly, shortly after the deadly ambush at the Nding–Gassa bridge, another set of commuters was attacked at the same location when their vehicle broke down—further confirming the deliberate targeting of road users along that axis”.
The Berom Youth Moulders-Association condemned the attacks, which have once again turned Barkin Ladi LGA into a theatre of bloodshed, fear, and lawlessness.
“BYM is deeply worried that these latest attacks in Nding occurred barely a day after the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) made unverified and inflammatory allegations that over 100 cows were rustled at Ganawuri in Riyom LGA, blaming Berom youths from Vwang in Jos South LGA.”
The Association called on security operatives to investigate MACBAN claims and take appropriate actions.
It extended its deepest condolences to the families of those brutally killed and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured child.
