‘I was in bed’: How British actor Delroy Lindo heard about Oscar nomination

Delroy Lindo says he was “in bed” when his son rang to tell him he had been nominated for his first Oscar.

The 73-year-old British actor told the BBC’s Colin Patterson he “never” gave up hope for getting an Academy Award nod.

Lindo was a surprise nomination for best supporting actor for his role in the Vampire horror film Sinners.

Co-star Wunni Mosaku and Lindo are the only two British actors nominated this year, carrying the UK’s hopes at the ceremony next month.
