Chelsea Football Club has announced a fan experience event in Lagos, Nigeria at the end of the current season at a yet to be determined date in May.
Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa and holds a large fanbase of Blues faithfuls, some of which were built in the early years of the 2000s.

The early years of Roman Abramovich’s ownership, during which the club had players like Didier Drogba, John Obi Mikel and other African stars, expanded the fanbase.
Chelsea to visit Lagos
The club announced in a statement on its official website that the event will be held sometime in May, but the specific date has yet to be communicated.
Chelsea will be bringing former player and Super Eagles legend Victor Moses to town to live the experience with fans and share the memories.
Moses spent nine years on Chelsea’s books following his move to Stamford Bridge from Wigan Athletic in 2012 after a long transfer saga with the Latics.
His active year at the club between 2016 and 2019, during which he helped the club win the Premier League title in the 2016/17 season under Antonio Conte.
Nigerians who played for Chelsea
Nigeria and Chelsea share a deep connection through some of the past Super Eagles stars who have featured for the club, the most successful of which is Mikel Obi.
Mikel Obi
As noted by Transfermarkt, Mikel is the biggest Nigerian player to feature for the London club, racking up over 300 appearances during a 10-and-a-half-season stint.
He won all trophies possible, including multiple Premier League titles, League Cups, FA Cups and was part of the squad that won the club’s first UEFA Champions League trophy in 2012.

Celestine Babayaro
Babayaro was the first Nigerian international to play for the Blues when he joined the club in 1997 and was a Blues player until his departure in 2005, playing 197 matches. He won four trophies, including the FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
Victor Moses
Chelsea chased Moses for a long time, and former Wigan chairman David Whelan rejected multiple bids before finally selling for £10 million in the summer of 2012.
He spent nine years at Chelsea and went on six loans in England, Turkey, Russia and Italy before finally leaving in 2021 to join Spartak Moscow permanently.
Ola Aina
Aina came through Chelsea’s famous Cobham Academy and featured in six senior matches before he was sold to Torino in 2019. He returned to London with Fulham in 2020 and currently plays for Nottingham Forest.
Kenneth Omeruo
Omeruo was a Chelsea player for seven years, but never made a senior appearance. He went on seven loans in England, the Netherlands, Turkey and Spain before leaving in 2019.
Mikel opens up on Chelsea move
Legit.ng previously reported that Mikel Obi explained what happened when he told Sir Alex Ferguson he would be joining Chelsea in 2006.
Manchester United and Chelsea were in a thug of war over the former Super Eagles captain, but he opted to stay in London, a decision that benefited him.
