Tehran, Iran – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday, April 1, penned an open letter to the American public.
According to The Indian Express, in the letter, Pezeshkian appealed to Americans to “look beyond” what he characterised as “the machinery of misinformation” amid the US-Israeli war with his country.

Bloomberg also reported on President Pezeshkian’s open letter.
He wrote:
“Portraying Iran as a threat is neither consistent with historical reality nor with present-day observable facts.
“Such a perception is the product of political and economic whims of the powerful—the need to manufacture an enemy in order to justify pressure, maintain military dominance, sustain the arms industry, and control strategic markets. In such an environment, if a threat does not exist, it is invented.”
Iranian President addresses Americans openly
In Pezeshkian’s open letter, which he shared on X, he said that “the Iranian people harbor no enmity toward other nations, including the people of America, Europe, or neighboring countries.”
Furthermore, he explained that the US has deployed a significant portion of its military forces in the area surrounding Iran, adding that “recent American aggressions launched from these very bases have demonstrated how threatening such a military presence truly is.”
Pezeshkian said:
“Naturally, no country confronted with such conditions would forgo strengthening its defensive capabilities. What Iran has done—and continued to do—is a measured response grounded in legitimate self-defense, and by no means an initiation of war or aggression.”
Pezeshkian questioned whether the war was truly in the interest of the American people, and accused the U.S. of entering the war “as a proxy for Israel.”

Iran army chief warns against US invasion
Meanwhile, Iran’s army chief warned Thursday, April 2, that should the US military land in the Islamic Republic, “not a single person” will survive among the invaders.
Major-General Amir Hatami made the comment in a piece aired by Iranian state television.

He said:
“The shadow of war must be lifted from our country and there must be security for everyone, because it is not possible for places to be safe and our people to be unsafe.”
Legit.ng reports that the current conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran has resulted in over 1,800 deaths, with over 1,300 deaths in Iran and 570 in Lebanon, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). Tens of thousands more have died in ongoing, separate conflicts in Europe and Africa.
