FCT, Abuja – President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the new executive secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), succeeding Ahmed Galadima Aminu.
Aminu recently resigned to contest the 2027 Adamawa State gubernatorial election.

Tinubu makes new appointments
According to a statement on Thursday, April 2, by Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to President Tinubu on information and strategy, obtained by Legit.ng, the Nigerian leader has renewed Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz’s appointment as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

This will be his second and final term, and both appointments take immediate effect.
Profile of Professor Shu’aibu Aliyu
Professor Aliyu, formerly executive secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, is an academic and seasoned administrator.
He is said to have extensive experience in research, education, and institutional leadership.
The presidency stated:
“His appointment highlights the President’s commitment to strengthening key petroleum sector institutions and advancing human capital development in Nigeria’s energy industry. He is expected to leverage his experience to reposition the PTDF for greater impact in innovation, strategic support, and talent development aligned with national priorities.”
Abdulaziz reappointed to TCN leadership role
The presidency’s statement added:
“Engineer Abdulaziz’s reappointment follows a thorough assessment of his performance and leadership of the nation’s transmission network.
“Under his stewardship, TCN has achieved notable improvements in grid stability, transmission capacity expansion, and system modernisation, reinforcing its crucial role in Nigeria’s electricity value chain.
“He also brings over three decades of experience in the power sector and has strengthened regional electricity integration through leadership in the West African Power Pool.”

President Tinubu urged both appointees to carry out their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of national service, “in line with the objectives of the Renewed Hope agenda.”

Tinubu appoints board members for NISO
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Tinubu appointed executive and non-executive board members for the newly established Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO).
Adesegun Olugbade is the board chairman, while Engineer Abdu Mohammed Bello was appointed managing director (MD).
The president appointed executive directors: Engineer Nafisatu Asabe Ali for Systems Operation, Engineer Shehu Abba-Aliyu for Systems Planning, Edmund Eje for Market Operations, and Babajide Ibironke for Finance and Corporate Services.
