The BBC’s Nada Tawfik reported from inside winning New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s victory party.

Mamdani, 34, became the first Muslim mayor and youngest person in over a century to lead the largest city in the US.

US President Donald Trump had previously called the candidate a “communist” and threatened to cut NYC’s federal funding if Mamdani won.
