Kaduna State – The former Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, will remain in the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) custody until the first week of June 2026.
Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court adjourned El-Rufai’s bail hearing on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
Legit.ng reports that El-Rufai was granted bail by the Federal High Court on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
The former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) faced multiple charges of alleged fraud and abuse of office brought forward by the ICPC.
The Kaduna State High Court reserved ruling on his bail application until April 21, 2026.
Recall that El-Rufai was arraigned last week on an amended nine-count charge bordering on alleged fraud and abuse of office.
Speaking on the couer’s decision, El-Rufai’s counsel, Ukpon Akpan, said the former governor’s bail application had been adjourned.
As reported by Daily Trust, Akpan stated this after the court session on Tuesday, A[ril 21, 2026.
Akpan kicked against the lingering adjournment.
He said the continued detention of the chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is politically motivated.
El-Rufai cries out over alleged ‘fresh plot’
Recall that El-Rufai alleged coordinated efforts to damage his reputation and prolong his detention.
The former governor’s team condemned recent reports as malicious attempts to undermine his legal standing and character.
Legal action planned against the media for defamation over allegations connected to ongoing criminal proceedings.

Court takes fresh action on El-Rufai’s case
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that El-Rufai had his bail ruling in the case filed by the ICPC adjourned to 21 April 2026 due to the judge’s bereavement.
El-Rufai had appeared in court over a nine-count amended charge involving alleged fraud, abuse of office, and corruption.
The ADC chieftain’s defence counsel, Ubong Akpan, had confirmed the adjournment and said the ruling would now be delivered on the rescheduled date.
