I remain committed to moving Oyo State from consumption to production economy —Bimbo Adekanmbi

… as he promises youth-driven blueprint

The political and economic landscape of Oyo State witnessed a strategic alignment yesterday in Ibadan, where youths from various affiliations, innovators, media entrepreneurs and community stakeholders gathered to chart a definitive course for the state’s future development. At the centre of this dynamic engagement was the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, whose comprehensive blueprint for youth empowerment and economic transformation was unveiled to the audience.

The focal point of the deliberations centred on a critical paradigm shift: a continuation of plan, moving Oyo State decisively away from a fragile consumer-based economy and anchoring it firmly within a vibrant, resilient production-based economy. For the transition to succeed, Adekanmbi emphasised that the youth must be thoroughly prepared, intellectually equipped, and strategically positioned at the vanguard of modern innovation and enterprise.

Addressing cross section of young leaders, Adekanmbi laid out a visionary framework anchored on tangible action rather than political rhetoric. He invited the participants to engage directly in policy formulation, famously declaring that they should task him with whatever they need to drive collective progress and regional prosperity. This open-door philosophy forms the bedrock of his proposed governance style, which promises an interactive platform where grassroots ideas can be brought forward and reacted to personally by leadership. By bridging the traditional gap between policymakers and the governed, this platform aims to capture grassroots creativity, turning raw concepts into scalable commercial enterprises and community-driven solutions that directly benefit the diverse populace of Oyo State.

A cornerstone of Adekanmbi’s developmental strategy is a sweeping structural overhaul of education and skills acquisition that begins directly within the foundational school system. Recognising that conventional academic frameworks often fail to address the realities of a modern, fast-paced digital economy, his policy blueprint extends far beyond the standard curriculum.

He said, “I will introduce specialised learning tracks designed to cultivate solutions-driven capacities among students from an early age. By integrating practical problem-solving, technological literacy, and vocational proficiency into the educational framework, the state will systematically produce a generation of young people who do not merely look for employment, but actively create wealth and jobs, thereby fortifying the foundation of a production-driven industrial state.

Furthermore, Adekanmbi’s governance vision champions a deeply inclusive society, establishing a firm commitment to affirmative action for women’s inclusion across all spheres of public and private enterprise. In his analytical assessment, true societal development is impossible if a significant portion of the population is sidelined or undervalued. He asserted that he sees no inherent gender difference in capability, declaring unequivocally that women will receive the exact same privileges, opportunities, and platforms as men. Under his proposed leadership model, whoever is better qualified will secure the job or leadership position. This uncompromising stance on gender equity ensures that talent, competence, and dedication remain the sole determinants of success in the evolving socioeconomic climate of Oyo State.

The extensive deliberations in Ibadan also underscored the absolute necessity of working closely with dynamic youths who are prepared to put their best foot forward. Adekanmbi noted that sustainable industrialisation and economic diversification require a proactive workforce that refuses to be constrained by limitations or bureaucratic bottlenecks. By fostering strategic public-private partnerships, providing targeted venture capital support, and creating localised innovation hubs across the geopolitical zones of Oyo State, his administration intends to unlock the immense potential latent in the youth demographic. The transition from consumption to production requires raw materials to be processed locally, technological applications to be harnessed efficiently, and entrepreneurial ventures to be scaled internationally, all of which depend heavily on the robust capacity-building initiatives outlined in his blueprint.

As the meeting concluded, attendees expressed renewed optimism regarding the prospects of a transformed Oyo State economy under purposeful, reform-minded leadership. The convergence of innovative ideas, robust educational reform, unwavering merit-based gender inclusion, and an interactive governance model presents a compelling roadmap for the future. Bimbo Adekanmbi’s commitment to transforming the state into an industrial powerhouse relies fundamentally on the energy, intellect, and relentless drive of its people. By prioritising practical capacity building, systemic school-level interventions, and an open, collaborative approach to leadership, the vision of a self-sustaining, production-driven Oyo State moves steadily from aspiration to attainable reality, setting a new benchmark for progressive governance across Nigeria.
