Kano pilgrims board sets 2027 Hajj registration deadline, rules out extension

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has reaffirmed that September 25, 2026, remains the final deadline for the payment of the Hajj deposit and registration for the 2027 pilgrimage, warning that no intending pilgrim will be allocated a Hajj seat after the closing date.

The Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, gave the warning during a meeting with Hajj Centre Officers from the 44 local government areas, held at the Board’s conference hall in Kano.

The Board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman A. Dederi, disclosed the development in a statement issued after the meeting.

Matawalle reminded participants that the Board had earlier fixed ₦8 million as the Hajj deposit for the 2027 pilgrimage and announced September 25, 2026, as the deadline for completing registration.

He urged all intending pilgrims to pay the required deposit and complete their registration before the deadline to secure their places for the pilgrimage.

According to him, the Board will not extend the registration period or provide additional Hajj seats after the closing date.

The Director-General reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to conducting a smooth, transparent and well-coordinated Hajj operation, urging prospective pilgrims to comply with all registration requirements within the stipulated period.

He advised intending pilgrims not to wait until the last minute, stressing that only those who complete the registration process before the deadline will be considered for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
