“Frame the Future”: Director KAY Launches 5-School Creative Empowerment Tour for Young Minds

Lagos, Nigeria — In a bold move to inspire and empower the next generation of Nigerian creatives, renowned filmmaker and visual educator Babatunde ‘Director KAY’ Kolawole has launched an innovative new project titled “Frame the Future – Helping Young Minds Grow.” The workshop series is an Extersee Initiative, targeting five secondary schools over five days, with the mission to nurture creativity, storytelling, and personal development among youth.

Igniting Creative Potential Through Storytelling and Photography

The Frame the Future workshop is a free empowerment program for students aged 9 to 20 years, designed to equip them with essential 21st-century skills including:

  • Photography & Camera Basics
  • Storytelling Techniques
  • Visual Expression Activities
  • Photo/Video Editing Skills
  • Confidence & Team Building Exercises
  • Final Project Showcase

Held directly within selected secondary schools, the program promises to be an immersive and inspiring experience for young participants — many of whom are encountering creative tools and training for the very first time.

“This is more than a workshop,” says Director KAY. “It’s a journey of self-discovery, creativity, and vision-building. We’re giving students a lens — not just to take photos, but to see their potential, to shape their stories, and to believe in what they can become.”

A Global Creative Leading Local Impact

Director KAY is no stranger to visual storytelling or global platforms. With over a decade of experience in media production, he has worked with top-tier brands such as Coca-Cola, Samsung, Jack Daniel’s, British American Tobacco, Nike Art Gallery, and Pfizer. His critically acclaimed documentary “The Evolution of ADIRE” was selected for screening at the Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) in Los Angeles, USA, further establishing him as a strong voice for African visual culture on the world stage.

Having recently returned from the U.S. where he showcased his work to international audiences, Director KAY is now focused on giving back and building forward — starting with local communities and schools.

A Mission to Empower and Inspire

The Frame the Future initiative is driven by a passion to close the gap between Nigerian youth and access to creative, expressive, and digital tools. According to Director KAY, many students possess raw potential but lack the structure, mentorship, and confidence to activate it.

“We’re not just teaching them how to take a picture,” he adds. “We’re showing them how to tell a story. How to express what matters. How to be seen and heard.”

Through his organization, EXTERSEE, and with support from collaborators and sponsors, the program aims to reach hundreds of students across multiple schools, igniting a ripple effect of creativity and confidence that could transform lives far beyond the classroom.

Call for Support and Sponsorship

To maximize impact and reach more schools, the Frame the Future initiative is calling for sponsorship and partnership support. Interested brands, NGOs, and individuals can join the mission by contributing to logistics, materials, student resources, and the final creative showcase.

Admission is Free. The Future is Priceless.

As the tagline boldly declares — 5 Days. 5 Schools. Unlimited Potential. — this is more than an outreach; it’s a movement. And it’s only just getting started.
