Afghan veteran hospitalised after station assault

An Afghan Special Forces veteran who served alongside the British army has suffered a serious brain injury after an alleged assault in Weymouth. Noor Aziz Ahmadzai developed a bleed on the brain after the incident, while he was working as a security guard at the town’s railway station last month. He’s now facing a long and uncertain road to recovery. But he isn’t eligible for the same support as a British veteran, having been denied his wish to join the British armed forces.
